About Astana
The decision to move the capital from Almaty to Akmola was adopted by the Supreme Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan on July 6, 1994. The official transfer of the capital took place on 10 December 1997. By presidential decree of may 6, 1998 Akmola was renamed to Astana. The international presentation of the new capital was held on June 10, 1998. In 1999, Astana was awarded the title of "city of peace"by UNESCO. Since 2000, the main city of Kazakhstan is a member of the International Assembly of capitals and major cities.

Astana is the northernmost capital in Asia. At present Astana's territory makes up more than 722 square kilometers, a population of about 853 thousand. The city consists of three districts – "Almaty", "Saryarka" and "Esil".
To feel the city you need to walk on it. The tour will begin with a visit to the shopping and entertainment center "Khan Shatyr" and will run in a straight line, called the "Axis of the Millennium" by the author of the master plan for the development of Nur Sultan (Astana) Kise Kurakawa.
